Tobby' genesis and its exodus

Chapter 2                              TIME TO HUNT School session was in. The following morning everyone was set for school. On the way Toga was with Tiwonge sharing stories about how sheep were grazed. “We are three, me, Happy and his young brother Gift. Days are divided into three. With you we are going to be four and we will be resting for long before one’s round comes,” Said Tiwonge. As they were about to cross river Kamfulu which was two kilometers away from Mabiri Primary school, another guy joined them. “Morning Tiwo”, he started the talk. “Morning”, replied Tiwonge. “Today you tried to be early, is it that you wanted to pass by our place to take Toga, since I already told you yesterday at the sangweni that he is in same class like you?” prolonged Tiwonge. “Yes of course that’s what I wanted but porridge delayed me because mama lala did not wake up too early today to prepare it”, said Chiza. By mama...

Exodus

THE GENESIS OF CRAIG'S EXODUS IS A BOOK WITH FULL FACINATING, TOUCHING AND EXISTING PIECES BASED ON TRUE LIFE STORY OF ONE GHETTO BOY THAT LIVED HIS LIFE TO EXPERIENCE ALL CIRCLES OF IT. THE PIECES SHALL BE DROPPED RANDOMLY ON VARIOUS READING OUTLETS. Chapter 9 The first kiss  "Hallo! Hallo! What did you just say?"  He queried as if he didn't hear what she said, in pretence that the network was was breaking down. "I said it's over and am reaping it's over, you can carry on with your life and I will do the same", She said while hanging up the phone. Craig didn't believe the words were coming from his one and only lover of his life. He thought it would be her friend Brenda, the owner of the cellphone through which they had been communicating over the past eight months since the valentines day. On the other hand he had noted a big change in her behavior over that period of time. She wasn't conversative as she used to be. He was suspicious but n...

Rodwell

ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL SONS OF MABIRI Summarizing can never be the best way, to paraphrase the summarized biography of one of Mabiri's influential sons. Patience has been one of the corner stones governing his personality. His never ending smile has been his weapon to defeat the enemy. Mixing up with all age groups has been his strategy to expose his dramatical character. Seeing him in company with Mr Gologodiyo Banda, Mr Kamoto Chirwa also known as Mr Small Fire as he used to call him, one could not wonder.  In terms of feud (beef and diss) he never lost one. His tongue has always been sharp enough to scatter opponent's trash. But at the same time he always knew trash has its limit. This made him able to contain those who could think of any violence with him.  Though he never showed off his struggle to get a better position in the society, his experience was enough to expose his challenges. Such one notable challenge was government's way of enrolling students into ...

Lets Emulate Mbanandi

THE CAMPUS MOTHER BY TOBBY ELEFUNT It was so obvious that Mbanandi would make it to university that year.  Her performance was absolutely excellent in every examination. She never underperformed in all subjects including those that were regarded as key subjects. These key subjects which included Mathematics, English and Science were a must pass if one would qualify for university entrance. When the results were out she was one of the five students who made it with a single digit points amongst those that passed at her school. Mbanandi’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Zgambo were proud of their daughter. Their advice to their daughter on the importance of reading wide including the next topic before the teacher touches it, did not fall on deaf ear. From primary to secondary that was her motto.  By the time the teacher came up with the topic it was like a revision to her. Teachers were shocked at how she could clearly answer and explain what she had been asked in line with the topic...

We must Change our Ways as Humans

Moral Decay Sitting in my room with my beautiful family on that evening, I felt so troubled in my mind. I silently manoeuvred to the study desk to put my thoughts on a paper. I reached out to where my pencil and my drafting pad were to list down some few points on what was bothering my mind concerning the immorality that had engulfed the world nowadays. Yes, moral decay is a serious matter that needs some serious attention at all cost, otherwise we are all to cry foul in due course. It's acceleration is double in this generation as compared to the generations that came before ours. This is all because of the coming of the so called social media with its platforms, eg WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. Yes it is true to say social media has eased our lives in terms of communication but the way it has been mishandled, by abusing its purpose is what remains a problem. Meeting a post of either a photo or a video of a woman giving birth, on Facebook is not strange nowadays. This is one ...

John Jill Writes

Systematic Analysis of Malawi's Girl-Centred Education Programming Authors John Foster Jill Moyo Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University, Beijing, People’s Republic of China. The aim of the systematic review was to compile and synthesise evidence on the contributions and implications of girl-centric policies and specialised interventions for girls' education in terms of access and participation. The results of the review confirm that girls' education programmes designed and implemented in a gender-based framework are effective in increasing girls' access to education. The results support the hypothesis that gender-centric policies and affirmative action interventions are sincere attempts to improve equity within education systems in Malawi. Despite these findings, the article argues that gender-centric policies and programmes can be replete with unfounded and contradicting assumptions about the nature of gender and egalitarian programming, which may negate the ...
